WOOD FIRED JAR

Sorry, this item has sold.

A small, round, wood fired jar with a natural bark cork.

This stoneware jar was colored by flames and glazed by the ash in the fire. It was fired in an anagama (Japanese for "cave kiln") stoked with wood every few minutes non-stop for five days.

The pictures can't do justice to the variation and hint of iridescence in the glaze or where the flames wrapped around the pot to color the clay, and you have to hold it to feel the juxtaposition of the glossy glaze and the satiny matte clay.

Some of these little jars were used in an episode of CBS's "Elementary".

About 4 3/4 inches high (without the cork) and about 4 1/2 inches wide. Holds 2 1/3 cups.

Food-safe. Okay in microwave and dishwasher.
