This large, terra cotta planter with saucer was made of wheel-thrown, locally dug clay that when fired to the right temperature comes out a nice terra cotta color and is porous. This allows air and water to flow through the pot which prevents root rot and soil disease.
It was fired high enough to be much stronger and more durable than most terracotta pots. (Many of which aren't real terracotta.) It has a small hole for drainage and a saucer that has been treated with a sealant to prevent leakage. It also comes with a shard to keep the soil from falling out or the hole becoming clogged.
It was thrown on the wheel, then altered for gesture and movement.
6 1/4 inches high, 11 1/4 at two widest points, 5 1/2 deep.
Everything in this shop is handmade and one of a kind.
The burnt orange color may be a little brighter or duller depending on your screen.
