This small planter was made of white earthenware clay. Like terracotta it is porous. This allows air and water to flow through the pot which prevents root rot and soil disease.
It is fired high enough to be much stronger and more durable than mass produced earthenware pots.
It has a small hole for drainage and a crock (a small shard to keep the soil from falling out or the hole becoming clogged). The shallow saucer has been treated with a sealant to keep it from leaking.
Okay indoors and outdoors. This one does not come with a saucer.
The last picture is just to show that this style of planter also works well as a hanging planter.
3 3/4 inches high and the opening at the top is 5 3/4 inches wide.
