This terracotta planter was centered on the wheel then knocked off center to make it asymmetrical, to get a lip that is thick on one side and thin on the other, to get gesture and movement. The saucer was done the same way.
It is made of locally dug clay that when fired to the right temperature comes out a nice terracotta color and is porous. This allows air and water to flow through the pot which prevents root rot and soil disease.
It is fired high enough to be much stronger and more durable than mass produced terracotta pots (which are usually not real terracotta). It has a small hole for drainage and a saucer that has been treated with a sealant to prevent leakage. It also comes with a small shard to keep the soil from falling out or the hole becoming clogged. Okay indoors or outdoors.
3 3/4 inches high, 5 1/4 at two widest points and 3 1/4 deep. It is about 3 inches wide at the inside center.
Everything is this shop is handmade and one of a kind.
The burnt orange color may be a little brighter or duller depending on your screen.
