Soft, spreadable butter on the table.
This large, stoneware butter keeper was wheel-thrown and fired to 2300 degrees for strength and durability. The glaze was slow cooled to give it time to develop depth and variation. It came out really nice on this one.
Everything in this shop is handmade and one of a kind.
About 3 3/4 inches high and 5 1/4 inches wide. Holds 2 or more sticks of butter.
Pack butter into the lid and add about an inch of cold water to base so that the water creates an airtight seal. As long as your house stays below 80 F. and you change the water every couple of days the butter will stay soft, spreadable and fresh for several days. Refrigerate overnight to keep the butter fresh longer.
Food-safe. Okay in microwave and dishwasher.
