This free-form planter was centered on the wheel then knocked off center to make it a little asymmetrical, to get a lip that is thick on one side and thin on the other, to get gesture and movement. The saucer was done the same way.
It is made of white earthenware clay. Like terracotta it is porous. This allows air and water to flow through the pot which prevents root rot and soil disease.
It is fired high enough to be much stronger and more durable than mass produced earthenware pots. It has a small hole for drainage and a saucer that has been treated with a sealant to keep it from leaking. It also has a small shard to keep the soil from falling out or the hole becoming clogged.
4 3/4 inches high, 7 3/4 wide and 4 1/4 deep.
