This planter is a take off of the traditional flower pot. The planter and saucer were thrown on the wheel then altered to break the symmetry and give it an unique shape and fluidity.
It was made of locally dug clay that when fired to the right temperature comes out a nice terracotta color and is porous. This allows air and water to flow through the pot which prevents root rot and soil disease.
It is fired high enough to be much stronger and more durable than most terracotta pots (many of which aren't real terracotta). It has a small hole for drainage, a saucer that has been treated with a sealant to prevent leaking, and a shard to keep the soil from falling out or the hole becoming clogged.
4 3/4 inches high, 5 3/4 wide at two widest points and 4 deep. The Inside diameter near middle is about 3 3/4 inches.
Everything in this shop is handmade and one of a kind.
The burnt orange color may be a little brighter or duller depending on your screen.
